Sacred Heart Farewell Gathering in the Social Area on Friday, 26th September at 6pm
All parishioners past and present who have worshipped at Sacred Heart church are invited to come and meet up to share memories of life, worship, and celebrations at Sacred Heart church. We hope our newer parishioners will also come and join us.
Although we are sad that our church and St Columba’s are closing on the 28th September, it is only right that we gather – just as we do after a loved family member or friend dies – to remember how our lives and theirs were intertwined and what blessings we gained from living with them and from sharing good and bad times with them. This time, our friend is the church that has been our spiritual home that has nurtured our faith and life. For some people that has been for the whole of their lives. For others, it has only been a short time. For all of us, our faith life is changed, not ended. We can carry what we share on this evening into our new life in our reshaped parish.
We want people to come together to share our memories through photographs, documents, and stories. Canon Manny, Fr Nithin, and Deacon Steve will be joining us.
Finger Food will be provided, but please bring your own drinks and, if possible, suitable glasses. Tea and coffee will be provided.
If you have any photographs or memorabilia that you would like to share, please contact Ann Newby on 07544 713240. We will carefully display these in the church and social area. Obviously, we only have limited space, so a few items from each of you is all we need. Please make sure that you write your name and phone number on them using a soft pencil, or use a post-it note, so that we can return them safely to you.
If you are willing to help to set up and take down displays or to serve food, please contact Ann.
You might have noticed that no end time has been set, but we all need to go home to bed at some point and get some sleep, so that we have some energy to get the church ready on Saturday for our final mass on Sunday, 28th September.
Change is at the very heart of life.
When there is acceptance of change,
of endings and new beginnings,
then the ‘unlooked for’
can begin to happen in our lives.
