The Parish of "Our Lady Of Furness"

Evangelium meetings re-started on Wednesday 12^th March at 7.30pm in Sacred Heart Social Area.  There will be meetings each Wednesday during Lent.  Watch the Newsletter for details of any changes.

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DAY

The floor in the Church and social area is being re-varnished.  So, from Monday 17^th March until Friday 28^th March the church will not be open.

Weekday Masses (on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings) will take place in the ‘Upper Room’ in the presbytery.

Sunday Mass on 23^rd March will be held at the usual time of 11.00am in Sacred Heart School Hall. 

As a side-effect of the church not being open, there will be no Lenten Lunches in the Social Area during these two weeks – on Wednesday the 19th March and 26th March.

Normal Service will be resumed on Wednesday, 2nd April.

Having consulted and reflected, the Sacred Triduum will take place in St Mary’s, the Mother Church of our Parish.

The following services will all take place at St Mary’s:

• The Mass of The Lord’s Supper on Maundy Thursday evening
• Morning Prayer on Good Friday
• The Celebration of the Lord’s Passion on Good Friday afternoon
• Stations of the Cross on Good Friday evening
• Morning Prayer on Holy Saturday
• The Easter Vigil on Easter Saturday

The three services of The Easter Triduum form one single mass and therefore provide a wonderful opportunity for us to demonstrate our unity as a single parish. The Triduum taking place in one church provides an opportunity for us to combine our ministries so that all our servers, readers, musicians etc unite in one great celebration.

EASTER SUNDAY MASSES WILL BE AT THE NORMAL MASS TIMES IN ALL CHURCHES.

There will be a fund-raising concert in aid of the church refurbishment in Sacred Heart School Hall on Friday 28^th March at 7.00pm.

Posters are available for display around the Parish.  Please help by picking one up after Mass and getting it displayed where people will see it.

Tickets are available price £3.00 per adult and £1.00 per child.  These are available from each church after Sunday and weekday masses.  Look out for posters in your church to see who is selling them.  Tickets can also be bought from Sacred Heart School Office.

It will be a good variety show, demonstrating the talents we have in our community, with performances by Sacred Heart School Choir, a Dancing Group, Fr Manny and Aileen Jackson playing a Piano Duet, Julie Flanagan singing, and many more talented people.
Bill Posters will be coming out soon so that you can see what good line-up we have for you.

There will also be refreshments available and the inevitable raffle
[Donations of Raffle Prizes would be most welcome].

Do come along and have a good time.  Enjoy yourself and, at the same time, help the parish to pay for the lovely refurbishment of Sacred Heart church.

St Mary’s: Sunday 5pm and Friday at 11.45am

Holy Family: Tuesday 6pm (confessions after Mass)

Sacred Heart: Thursday 6.30pm

St Columba’s Thursday 2pm (in church- led by school)

           Friday at 6 pm (confessions after Mass)

The information on the “Contact Us” page has been brought up to date with all the current information for Our Lady of Furness Parish.   There is quite a lot of information on the new page, so you may need to scroll down the page to find what you want.

As part of this update, the “send us an e-mail” contact form has been changed so that your message will now go directly to the Parish Office, rather than to the Website Management team.  Margaret Ross, our Parish Administrator will make sure your message gets to the right person so that it can quickly be dealt with.

In the next update we hope to bring you all of the up to date information for each of the four churches and community groups across the town.  If you have any information that needs to be included, then please send it in to the Parish Office.

Now that we are one Parish, we need to work on bringing the website up to date.  We need help to do this.  Do you have the skills and ideas that we need to help us do this?  Do you have some time available to help us?  If you do, please contact John Sharpe or John Newby by leaving a message on the ‘Contact Us’ page.

Kathryn Farrow has joined the team to represent the Holy Family community.
