There will be a penitential service on Wednesday (1st April) this week at 7.00pm at St Mary’s
with an opportunity for individual confession.
PLEASE NOTE – NO CONFESSIONS AT ANY CHURCH DURING THE EASTER TRIDUUM
CHRISM MASS
This special Mass will take place in the Cathedral at Lancaster
at 11.30am on Maundy Thursday (2nd April).
All are welcome to attend.

Well done Fathers Emmanuel and Andrew! Between just the two of you, you have catered for the needs over Easter of ALL the Catholics in Barrow. When I lived in this charming and attractive town in the 50s to the early 70s, there were 8,000 Catholics, 6 churches and about 12 priests!
I don’t know what the parish of St . Mary’s would have done if dear Emmanuel Gribben, having fled from the troubles in Belfast as a boy in 1970, hadn’t received his vocation to the priesthood in Barrow while living in Lumley St. in the Sacred Heart parish. I’ve also met Andrew Allman, a truly dynamic priest full of fervour.
