The Parish of "Our Lady Of Furness"

On Monday, 22nd December at 7 pm in St Mary’s church, there will be an opportunity for all of our bereaved families to come together and pray for our loved ones who have died and to light a candle before the crib in their memory.

This year’s Christmas Services are detailed in the table below.

The Youth Group next meet this Wednesday at 7.00pm in the Parish Centre  (Nelson Street). All Year 6 and above are welcome.

Our Youth Club are organising a coffee afternoon/ Christmas Carols on Saturday 20th December from 2.30pm-4.30pm at the Parish Centre in Nelson Street for senior citizens and housebound of the Parish. Notices are now up in all the churches to list those who will be attending and also those who are able to provide lifts for people. It would help us enormously if we had numbers before the day to ensure we have enough tables/chairs etc available. Thank you for your continued support for our youth club.

 The Youth Group will next meet on Wednesday 10th September.

The youth group is open to all young people from year 6 up.

We meet at Nelson St Centre  from 7:00 – 8:45.

This international youth gathering will take place in Krakow, Poland,
the birthplace of Pope John-Paul II.

Any young person who will be 16 by the time of this event and is interested in finding out more please contact Fr Manny or the Parish office on 820210.

This event is for those Year 10 in March 2015. Young people of the church will be gathering together for a trip to London to see the sights, meet others, share faith, excitement and challenge.

Next Sunday (27^th July) is a day in the Church’s year dedicated to celebrating the dignity of life.

This year it will call upon young people in particular to protect and cherish life from conception to natural death.  Literature is available at the back of church.

A retiring collection will be taken after all Masses proceeds of which will go to The Anscombe Bioethics Centre and other life-related activities supported by the church.

We are able to order A4 size pictures of the Icon of Our Lady of Furness at a cost of £2.00 each.

If you would like one please put your name and details on the list at the back of church or contact the Parish Office on 820210.  Please order by the end of July.

There has been such a positive response to these events that we have decided to repeat them next year.

The Novena will begin on Thursday, 25^th June 2015 for nine evenings

The Patronal Feast Day will be Saturday 4^th July 2015.
